"I've always wanted to help, and all of you from Životologia give me a way to do that. I'm crazy, for every joke, but then again I like to help".
Emma Sušienková, Business Academy Pezinok
"At first, we didn't know how the students would react, because you know how young they are. The other teachers were a bit skeptical. Their reactions were varied. There was a fear that it would displace classical education, but these fears were quickly dispelled and it became clear that Biology was very much needed to add to the system exactly what it currently lacked. The activities are chosen in such a way that they caught the young people, it is actually about them".
RNDr. Jozef Lojan, director of the St. Cyril and Methodius in Snina
"I saw the results of the students who spent a week with you. I really liked the presentation of the activities they did during the week. It could be seen that they learned how to present their work correctly, so I think that when they have the knowledge that they get from our teachers, they need to be able to use this knowledge and gain a foothold with it, especially in the labor market, and this knowledge or the use of their skills in real life - that you teach them".
Ing. Janka Redechová, deputy head of the school, Private secondary vocational school of business, Senica
"I would like to point out the technique taught in Biology, which is much simpler and yet more interesting than other classes. She taught us to express ourselves better, in general, but also our own opinion. The always positive and open approach of our mentors gives us energy and appetite for class. The fact that they familiarize us with their personal life gives us a sense of security to share with others. For me, biology is also a kind of rest between all the classes where we are bombarded with millions and millions of information and we still only remember what we want. That is why I am grateful that as one of the few schools we have the opportunity to learn in such a new and original way"
Karolína Rokošná, High School "Jilemák" Trenčín
"Heni, you are my role model, because of the way you communicate with us, how you got into Biology and promote it, you fulfill your dreams that you showed us, how you treat your children, how you can express yourself in front of people, and so much positive energy and such an effort to give something to our lives, you can always put a smile on my face even through the mobile phone, but you are simply unreal! I am very glad that we have something like Životologia at school, I believe that it will give me a lot more".
Simona Horaisová, Business Academy Pezinok
"When Mr. us Holubeková approached us with the offer of "Zivotologie", we were curious as to what it was about. We were the very first school, it was not taught anywhere before. Since we're open to new things, we thought we'd give it a try. It has been working at our school for 3 years. Biology is focused on the development of feelings, emotions, motivation, interests, socialization and communication, on self-control and self-management, on moral values and creativity. It also helps us in solving educational problems at school, which are currently discussed in a non-violent way in Biology".
Ing. Dana Navarová, deputy director, Business Academy, Pezinok
"From my point of view, this subject is useful, the assessment of the impact on the quality of internal relationships in the classroom will be analyzed by the school management after the end of the school year. However, I can definitely state that life science is a benefit, the children will learn how to communicate and act properly,".
Mgr. Mária Hančinská, riaditeľka, Stredná odborná škola obchodu a služieb, Trenčín
“I like the rule that the classroom is Vegas. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”.
Veronika Stískalová, Secondary Vocational School of Trade and Services, Trenčín
"When something comes to mind, we ask and the mentors are very happy to answer us, they are willing. It's an interesting class, different from classic classes."
Patrícia Horná, Secondary Vocational School of Trade and Services, Trenčín
"I learn something new in every biology class. Either about classmates or about myself. Thanks to great mentors, I learned not only to listen, but also to perceive others, to react correctly to seemingly ordinary situations and to establish values that are really important to me. I take away a lot of interesting knowledge and experience from the classes, which help me become a better person. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this program.”
Jana Petrovajová, student, Church High School of St. Cyril and Methodius in Snina
"In Biology, they teach us how to recognize when something is bothering us or recognize something about ourselves, how to behave in certain situations and that it can also hurt other people"
Oliver Semko, student at the Church High School of St. Cyril and Methodius in Snina
"I want to thank you for today's workshop. I think people really liked it, it was a new and perhaps unexpectedly good experience for them. It was a good experience for me as well. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to get to know it at least a little closer, even though you yourself know best that it was just a tasting, where one can only guess how it all tastes. I especially liked the openness and sincerity with which you all put yourself into it, that you you're not acting, you're not faking anything. That's perhaps the most valuable thing this whole program can give people."
PhDr. Štefan Grajcár, consultant of the Euroguidance Center and the Slovak Academic Association for International Cooperation, vice-president of the Association for Career Counseling and Career Development, university teacher and expert columnist
"I like in these classes that we also talk about things that, for example, we don't talk much about with our parents, so more openly."
Dávid Kováčik, Secondary Vocational School of Commerce and Services, Trenčín
"It is better than a classic class, because we talk more freely and openly about everything with the lecturers. We discuss our life goals and what we want to achieve, we also discuss such topics as sex, family, and we also talk about drugs"
Samuel Mičo, Secondary Vocational School of Commerce and Services, Trenčín
Students talk about this subject as a missing link in teaching".
Katarína Kleknerová, Editor of TV JOJ
"On behalf of the organization Future Generation Europe, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Teen Mentors for conducting the Life Sciences workshop as part of the Mini-Erasmus project November 2016. The participants from secondary schools were very satisfied and we believe that it will move them forward in life. I also express my pleasure that together with the Teen mentors - in addition to enriching the students with new information - we may have awakened more people to greater activity and perhaps this can change their lives in the future".
Tomáš Meňuš, Future generation Europe
"First of all, it is still difficult to assess the direct or indirect influence of Biology in education. I would rather estimate that it has a positive effect on a few individuals than on "all" students. However, it is also related to the level of already achieved skills, knowledge and attitudes of our pupils, which are, ahem, often at a very modest level. In this direction, however, Life Science, perhaps, helps to open up other horizons than those normally opened by regular teaching and definitely has considerable potential for the development of several personal competences of students. However, under the condition of continuous regular teaching of this program, not occasionally. The positive thing is that they are not "broken" and especially that they have the opportunity to participate in the activities of the whole and their opinion is accepted, or they generally have the opportunity to express themselves. I see how effective it is to connect the curriculum with the mentors' life stories".
PhDr.Peter Roháč, teacher of Ethics, Business Academy Pezinok
There are more and more young people with aching souls, and since it is a problem especially in recent years, we teachers are not yet sufficiently equipped with skills, instructions, techniques to cope with and sufficiently solve the problems that currently occur so often in student groups. Biology could be very helpful to teachers of ethical education, but also to classroom teachers. I evaluate the whole project as very beneficial for the students and for the school."
RNDr. Marta Kubíčková, teacher Business Academy Pezinok
"What I like about this subject is that it is actually informal education and we are all equal there, in the relationship of Teen mentor and student. In short, no one is superior or inferior, and this project is also based on great friendships. And so I am very happy that I am with you all in the mentoring team and that I could become a Teen mentor this year. I found new contacts and we have fun with all the groups together. Ages range from secondary school students to adults in various working professions. And we are like one family, which also moves me forward and gives me various projects, conferences in which I really like to participate with all of you. And it's a great connection with my field. My mission for this great project is that I'd like to help young people with similar problems to what I was experiencing, and of course I plan to continue mentoring even after finishing high school."
Lukáš Matula, Business Academy Pezinok
"Life science is a subject that is taught at 5 schools in Slovakia, and one of the schools is my Gymnázium sv. Cyril and Methodius in Snin. I am very happy that this subject is also in my class schedule. At the beginning, I had no idea what we were going to learn in this subject. Later I found out that it is a subject about us, about people. 4 young mentors come to these classes and teach us about getting to know ourselves, relationships between us, interests and taking care of our health. These classes add a lot to my life. They teach me how to treat people, how to find out what I enjoy, how to properly take care of my health and body. I wish all young people to have the opportunity to "find themselves" at Life Sciences.
Anetka Gíčová, High School of St. Cyril and Methodius in Snina
"With parents or in front of teachers, we don't dare to say that in front of them. Not that we take them as friends, but as Henika said, equals."
Roman Gelien, Secondary Vocational School of Commerce and Services, Trenčín
"I expected a pleasant atmosphere from the workshop of Life for us, educational advisors, I was looking forward to learning something new. My expectations were exceeded. He brought me a new philosophy and outlook on life, thanks to which I lost the feeling of burnout. As additional benefits, I would like to highlight that I gained new motivation for a creative approach to work and life and I was inspired to create a pleasant atmosphere. I recommend the Biology training for my other colleagues, teachers, parents and other adults, because everyone would find solutions to their problems there. The only thing that could be criticized is that I would have reserved much more time for such interesting educational activities for us".
Ľudmila Hrachovinová, teacher and educational advisor, Ivanská cesta secondary school, Bratislava
