There was a fear that it would displace classical education, but these fears were quickly dispelled and it became clear that Biology was very much needed to add to the system exactly what it currently lacked. The activities are chosen in such a way that they caught the young people, it is actually about them".

"When Mr. us Holubeková approached us with the offer of "Zivotologie", we were curious as to what it was about. We were the very first school, it was not taught anywhere before. Since we're open to new things, we thought we'd give it a try. It has been working at our school for 3 years. Biology is focused on the development of feelings, emotions, motivation, interests, socialization and communication, on self-control and self-management, on moral values and creativity. It also helps us in solving educational problems at school, which are currently discussed in a non-violent way in Biology".

"First of all, it is still difficult to assess the direct or indirect influence of Biology in education. I would rather estimate that it has a positive effect on a few individuals than on "all" students. However, it is also related to the level of already achieved skills, knowledge and attitudes of our pupils, which are, ahem, often at a very modest level. In this direction, however, Life Science, perhaps, helps to open up other horizons than those normally opened by regular teaching and definitely has considerable potential for the development of several personal competences of students. However, under the condition of continuous regular teaching of this program, not occasionally. The positive thing is that they are not "broken" and especially that they have the opportunity to participate in the activities of the whole and their opinion is accepted, or they generally have the opportunity to express themselves. I see how effective it is to connect the curriculum with the mentors' life stories".

"What I like about this subject is that it is actually informal education and we are all equal there, in the relationship of Teen mentor and student. In short, no one is superior or inferior, and this project is also based on great friendships.
And so I am very happy that I am with you all in the mentoring team and that I could become a Teen mentor this year. I found new contacts and we have fun with all the groups together. Ages range from secondary school students to adults in various working professions. And we are like one family, which also moves me forward and gives me various projects, conferences in which I really like to participate with all of you. And it's a great connection with my field. My mission for this great project is that I'd like to help young people with similar problems to what I was experiencing, and of course I plan to continue mentoring even after finishing high school."

"Life science is a subject that is taught at 5 schools in Slovakia, and one of the schools is my Gymnázium sv. Cyril and Methodius in Snin. I am very happy that this subject is also in my class schedule. At the beginning, I had no idea what we were going to learn in this subject. Later I found out that it is a subject about us, about people. 4 young mentors come to these classes and teach us about getting to know ourselves, relationships between us, interests and taking care of our health. These classes add a lot to my life. They teach me how to treat people, how to find out what I enjoy, how to properly take care of my health and body. I wish all young people to have the opportunity to "find themselves" at Life Sciences.
